  • Ingredients

    • 1 cup of Chana Dal soaked in 4 cups of water for 2-3 hours
    • 3 cups of water
    • 1/4 tsp of red chilli powder
    • 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder
    • 1/4 tsp of cumin powder
    • 1/4 tsp of coriander powder
    • 1 tsp of sugar
    • 1 tbsp of tamarind pulp
    • 1 tbsp of vegetable oil
    • 1/4 tsp of mustard seeds
    • 1 clove of finely chopped garlic
    • Tata salt to taste

    Method to make Chana Dal Fry

      Drain the soaked Chana Dal.

      Set aside.

      Take a deep vessel, add water, some salt and soaked Chana Dal.

      Cook over medium heat for 30 minutes.

      Add red chilli, turmeric, cumin and coriander powders, sugar and tamarind pulp. Stir.

      Allow to simmer uncovered for some time.

      In a separate pan, heat the vegetable oil on low flame.

      When it begins to smoke, add the mustard seeds and chopped garlic to it.

      Add this to the simmering pot of dal.

      Cook the dal for another 5 minutes.
