  • Ingredients

    • ½ cup washed Pink lentils (Masoor dal)
    • 1-inch piece of Ginger
    • 2 Green chillies
    • 1 tea spoon Cumin seeds
    • ¼ tea spoon Turmeric powder
    • 1 table spoon of Refined oil
    • A pinch of Asafoetida powder
    • Salt (according to taste)
    • Other Ingredients:
    • 2 table spoon Cornflour
    • 1½ table spoon Water
    • ¼ tea spoon Black Pepper powder
    • ¼ Sesame seeds (white)
    • Refined oil to fry
    • Salt (according to taste)

    Method to make Masoor Dal Spicy Fingers

      Soak the Masoor dal in water for 2 hours. Drain the water. Add ginger, green chillies and grind it to a paste in a mixer.

      Add 2 cups of water to this mixture and prepare a thin batter.

      In one non-stick pan, heat 1 table spoon of oil and add asafoetida, cumin seeds.

      After the cumin seeds start to crackling, add the turmeric. To this add the batter and cook it on medium flame till the mixture leaves the sides and turns thick like a ball.

      Grease a plate with oil and evenly spread the mixture and press it lightly

      After this cools down, cut it evenly in finger sized pieces having a thickness of ½ - ¾ inches.

      In a separate bowl, prepare a solution with the cornflour and water.

      In another big plate, spread out the sesame seeds. Dip every finger in the cornflour solution and then roll them in the sesame seeds and coat it before frying in the hot oil.

      The spicy fingers are ready to be served with chutney or sauce.
